Web Site: 2004 Denver Post Ride The Rockies

Overall 6-Day Route
Day one - Boulder to Estes Park

The tour began with a steep climb from Boulder at about 5,300' elevation, to Ward. This point along the Peak To Peak Highway just above Ward is about 9,300' elevation. The day began with heavy morning thunderstorm around 6:30 AM. Lightning is unusual in the mornings in July. The middle of the day was spectacular, but the afternoon turned quickly to heavy rain, hail and lots of lightning.
Day Two
Estes Park to Granby via Trail Ridge Road Snowed Out, Road Closed!

Day two was a great disapointment for everyone. Snowfall on Trail Ridge road overnight resulted in the Park Service decision to close the road for more than a day to all traffic. It was reported that more than six inches of snow fell at the higher elevations.
Day Three
Granby to Steamboat Springs via Gore Pass
Day Five
Steamboat Springs to Frisco via Rabbit Ears
Pass
